Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – April 2009

GON Staff | March 24, 2009

Chatuge: Level: 4.9 feet below full pool. Temp: Low to mid 50s. Clarity: Slightly stained to clear.

Bass: Fair. Nathan Lewis said you can catch some spotted bass fishing a Shad Rap on wind-blown, main-lake points, and you can also fish a small worm on a drop shot in 15 to 20 feet of water if the wind isn’t blowing. The largemouths should be in the creeks on shallow brush, and you can catch them with a jig ’n pig or on a weightless fluke fished slowly through the brush or on boat docks. If the fish are a little deeper, fish the fluke on a light jig head, and yo-yo it with an erratic action. Nathan makes his own jig heads that have worm-size hooks and very little weight, down to 1/32-oz.
