Lake Blackshear Fishing Report – February 2024

GON Staff | January 31, 2024

Blackshear: Level: 1.7 feet below 237. Temp: 46 degrees. Clarity: Muddy.

Bass: Tournament angler Chris Gray reports, “Fishing has been relatively tough as of late. Frigid temperatures and heavy rains have made for a bad combination of cold and muddy water. The extended forecast calls for more rain, so I don’t expect the water to clear up anytime soon. The bass should start feeding heavily and start moving to more of a prespawn pattern. Red crankbaits, such as a Bomber Flat A or a Rapala Shad Rap, are good lures to try. Also, you can’t ever go wrong with a black-and-blue jig. Main-lake points near deep water and bridges with rip-rap are good places to try. Toward the end of the month if the water continues to warm up, try throwing a spinnerbait around these same locations. Good luck!”
