QDM Not Hitting On Much
Dear GON,
Surely, I’m not the only one who notices things like this. I’ve never been a big believer in QDM, and at the same time, I don’t ascribe to shooting any buck that comes along.
Trophies are like beauty, in the eye of the beholder. Having said that, Dooly County should be at or near the top for producing trophy bucks because it has been a QDM county the longest. But that’s not the case.
I’ve read the stats in GON for more years than I can count, and Dooly almost never produces in any year like it should if QDM is valid.
According to last month’s annual “Best For Big Bucks” special, check out the counties on the rise—Webster, Twiggs and Schley! These counties were notoriously known for years for producing small bucks.
Personally, I think it’s the luck of the draw. Some years some counties produce nice bucks, and some years they don’t, and QDM is not a factor. If it were, all counties that have adopted the QDM regulations and philosophy should consistently produce after a while, and they just don’t. Never have and never will. Just saying!
I appreciate GON. Y’all publish it every month the way it is, and that’s the way it should be.
