I’ve Got A Few Jim Bland Stories Of My Own
Dear GON,
I enjoyed Duncan Dobie’s article in the July issue about Mr. Jim Bland. When I saw the picture on the cover, I thought that the kid looked like Jim Bland, and sure enough it was him.
I’ve known Jim and his sons since I hunted as a guest with the Flatwoods Hunting Club outside of Ludowici while I was in college. Jim was a member, as well as one of the landowners of the property.
After graduating from college, I was accepted as a member of the club, for which I am grateful. The same property later became Griffin Ridge WMA.
Jim has such a good outlook on life and wit as well. He can turn a bad experience into a humorous anecdote. I laughed when I recalled an incident that occurred one morning on his way into the club land that he told us about. I won’t elaborate on the incident. All of us could probably use some of his perspective on life at times when things don’t always go our way.

Old School Trout, Taters & Cabbage
Dear GON,
When I renewed my father-in-law’s subscription this year, it was suggested I send in some pictures for possible publication. My father-in-law is 89 years old and loves to hunt and fish. He still deer and turkey hunts. He also loves to fish for just about anything but mostly for mature trout where you have to work for these little guys.
Then he builds a fire and cooks them, some taters and cabbage right there by the creek. His name is Bobby Ramey, he is 89 years young and lives in Tiger with his wife of 68 years Shirley.
