Polk County Deer Boxing Match

Dave McElwee, of Cedartown, captured a video of two deer standing on their back legs and duking it out in a boxing match for nearly 2 1/2 minutes straight. The video was captured in Polk County on Sept. 22.

“I had just gotten home from playing golf and was sitting in my vehicle in the driveway,” said Dave. “The deer were located in my neighbor’s backyard. Although this is a residential subdivision, it is adjacent to several wooded tracks of land.”

Dave says he sees deer about every day, but he said he doesn’t ever remember them putting on a show like this.

“The deer will run away most of the time when people come around, so they are not tame,” said Dave. “We have seen the deer paw at each other a lot. We have never seen them rare up like that and fight. And, it went on for over two minutes.”
