GON Member Captures Youth Turkey Hunt On Video
GON Member Submitted: Tallyn Judy, Haralson County Turkey Hunt, March 16, 2019

Tallyn Judy, of Loganville, harvested his first turkey on March 16 in Haralson County. The 9-year-old was hunting with his dad Jeremy and his papaw Dennis, who is a seasoned and successful turkey hunter with a World Slam under his belt.
“The turkeys came in from behind us gobbling very little, but we could hear them spitting and drumming very close to the blind,” said Jeremy. “When they finally moved past the blind and into the creek bottom, we heard one gobble, and they were coming to the decoy. Tallyn wasted no time getting on the gun. Just like that it was all over, and the celebration started.”
“He thanked God first, and then he hugged and thanked his Papaw and then me,” said Jeremy. “Before moving the turkey and taking pictures, he had to call his mimi, his mommy and both of his uncles to let them know what he had done. Sitting back as a spectator, I was overwhelmed. I had witnessed in a two-year time span Tallyn take his first few deer, a wild hog and now his first turkey. But knowing what this meant to my dad was priceless. He must have watched the hunt video 10 times with Tallyn when we got back to camp. I could stretch this out into a novel, but I will sum it up in two words: truly blessed!”
TALLYN’S HUNTING GEAR
Tallyn’s turkey had a 10 1/2-inch beard, 1 1/4-inch spurs and weighed 19 pounds.
