Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – October 2024

GON Staff | September 25, 2024

Eufaula: Level: Full at 188. Temp: 89 degrees. Clarity: Good stain on the river, and the creeks are still dirty.

Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, of Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “The river is down just right from the 12-plus inches of rain recently. The shore vegetation is still covered, and the shallow bite is active. Flukes, frogs and blade baits are working in the cover. Texas-rigged Trick Worms and creature baits are your better choices on the edges. Watermelon candy, green pumpkin and blue/black are your colors. In the dirtier creeks, red-colored plastics are seen better. Deeper bass are holding around structure and hitting larger soft plastics in dark colors fished on Carolina rigs. Heavy jigs hooked up with bigger creature baits will get a strike, also.”

Multiple Species: Capt. Sam Williams, of Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “Crappie are getting hotter by the day. They are also holding on structure and eating minnows hooked up on jigs. Take some catfish or bream bait with you. It is not taking a full trip to catch a limit of papermouths. Bluegill are still eating wigglers and crickets around the overhangs on the shorelines. On the still, hot days, you can find a good shady spot in the creeks to catch a mess on these good-eatin’ babies. Cats remain regular eaters on jugs baited with cutbait or shad, caught with your cast net. Crawlers are the answer for the angler who likes to bottom fish. The catfish in the Hooch are the best tasting anywhere. The temperature is going to be cooling down soon, and it will be perfect weather to get your family on the water or banks to make those memories and enjoy God’s great outdoors. Be sure and capture pictures of the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. They just seem to take on a better look on the water. Pray for all our heroes in uniform and their families as they go out each day to keep us safe. Pray for our nation. We need unity only our Savior can provide. That begins with loving one another as commanded in the Scriptures.”
