I've had history with this buck for two years. He was very sporadic on this particular farm, showing almost no patternable activity. I knew he was back in the area as I had a picture of him in a nearby scrape 2 days prior to the hunt. Given where the picture was taken, I knew where he had to be bedding, which was close to his summer bedding. After the rain quit on Saturday the 10th, I knew activity would be good. I'd seen 10-12 does and another good buck already. This buck just came strolling through earlier than I expected as I'm sure he was just cruising for an unbred doe. The shot was only 25 yds or so, and I heard him crash. I didn't have to do any tracking, which was nice since the ground was soaked. He went about 70 yds and I walked right to him. Overall a great bow kill for December.
