GON Staff | October 31, 2012

Danny Taylor, of Ailey, took this 528-pounder on a south Georgia dog hunt.
The biggest bear GON has heard about so far this season was taken by Danny Taylor, of Ailey. He killed a 528-lb. south Georgia bear in Clinch County on Sept. 27 while on a dog hunt.
“I was observing a planted pine field when I noticed a pine sapling move,” said Danny. “Then I spotted the bear at about 30 yards. I shot him with a 20-gauge slug.”
The big bear went down but got back up and ran past Danny, who was able to get another shot on the bear.
“He ran for a total of 162 yards,” said Danny.
At press time, Danny’s giant bear was No. 12 on GON’s Georgia’s Biggest Bears list.
