In partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Georgia Chapter of Safari Club International is hosting a statewide Youth Hunting Day on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019.

This full-day event will introduce first-time hunters and their parents (or guardians) to deer hunting, while being personally guided with an experienced hunter.

The Agenda Includes:
Arrive with Parent/Check-in
Meet your mentor
Rifle safety and practice
Lunch
Education on game laws from the DNR
Tree-stand safety
Ethical shot placement
Afternoon guided hunting until dark
Recovery of deer (if successful)
Take harvested deer to the processor
Dinner with fellowship and discussion about the hunt
Depart for home

If the youth hunter successfully harvests a deer, the meat will be processed and returned to the family.

There are two locations open: one is a privately owned farm plantation in Newborn, and the other is Milner Farms in Commerce.

If you know someone you would like to introduce to the great outdoors, please register through the DNR website.
