The 2024 Ag-Pro Outdoor Blast, presented by Dallas Safari Club (DSC), will take place July 26-28 at the LakePoint Champions Center in Emerson, north of Atlanta off I-75 at Exit 283. Below are highlights of what to expect. For more info, including a schedule of events, go to GON.com/outdoor-blast.
BBQ Village: Get a belly-full of great food from the crew at the BBQ Village. Meet professional cookers from some of the top-rated BBQ businesses in Georgia. Four41South, Inked Pig, DAS BBQ and Crowe’s Bar-B-Que will be serving up some of their signature dishes all weekend long. Breathe in that smoky air on the outside lawn as you mingle with our this crew and learn some cooking and smoking techniques that may just make you the most popular guy in the deer club this fall.
Jake Fromm: Former UGA quarterback Jake Fromm will make two appearances at the Ag-Pro Blast: Friday, July 26 from 4-6 p.m. and Saturday, July 27 from 9-11 a.m. Fromm certainly knows his way around the gridiron, but there’s not many places he’d rather be than the duck swamp or bass pond.
30-30 Ministries $1K Shoot-Out The 30-30 Ministries $1K Shoot-Out is a shooting competition that gives contestants the opportunity to win $1,000 by breaking raw eggs with the same style pellet rifle used in GON’s Truck-Buck Shoot-Out. Anyone at the Outdoor Blast can qualify on Saturday, July 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (first-come, first serve as time allows). Anyone who hits a raw egg from 45 feet qualifies for the finals at 4 p.m. where qualifiers will shoot at an egg from 60 feet to determine our $1,000 winner. Qualifying is $5 per shot, or $10 for three shots.
Deer Scoring: Bring your mount or antlers, and our team of official Boone & Crockett scorers will tally up the inches, and your buck’s final score will automatically be listed in GON’s Georgia Deer Records. Look for the Deer Wall against the back of the building. Drop your rack off anytime during show hours Friday or Saturday, but please show up no later than 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 28. Don’t wait until the show is about to close on Friday and Saturday. Antlers dropped off near the closing hours of the show might not be available for pick up until the next day.
GON Youth Shoot-Out GON’s annual Youth Shoot-Out BB gun competition will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 26. These young shooters each qualified by having the best-scoring youth (15 and younger) buck during a week of deer season. These weekly youth winners will compete for a chance to win a $3,000 shopping spree at Adventure Outdoors and a weekend hunting trip to Woods-N-Water, or a rifle from CVA and BPI Outdoors. In addition, they have already won a LockedOn 360 Mobile Gun Vise, a Rugged Road Outdoors 30 Soft Cooler and a personalized Shoot-Out jersey from Realtree.
Gun-An-Hour Giveaway: Blast attendees will have free chances to win a gun every hour of the show. A name will be drawn every hour among attendees who register for free each day. The person drawn will simply come by the GON booth, complete the federal background check, pick up their brand-new gun and take it home that day. The Gun-An-Hour Giveaway is made possible through a partnership with non-profit 30-30 Ministries and with some awesome help from Adventure Outdoors. No raffle tickets to buy, just a simple sign-up for all show attendees who are 18 and older who have a paid ticket to that day’s show. You must be present to win, and you must claim your gun within 30 minutes of your name being called.
Kids’ Zone: Need to chill a minute? Let the kids participate on the BB range, get their face painted or shoot at the FCA inflatable archery range.
“Let’s Go Fishing” SeminarsWatch fish in a 30,000 gallon tank and learn some new tips and techniques for your next trip to the water while you relax. Experts on a variety of types of fishing for a variety of species will be teaching seminars every hour during all three days of the Outdoor Blast.
Snake Shows at Outdoor Blast: If snakes make you squeamish, you can sit in the bleachers and still enjoy seeing and learning about a variety of live snakes, including a huge diamondback rattlesnake and other venomous species. Or, if you’d like an up-close experience that might even include holding a non-venomous snake, Jason Clark with Southeastern Reptile Rescue will be offering show-goers the chance to see and learn about snakes.
Truck-Buck Shoot-Out: Another group of Georgia deer hunters will take the stage on July 28 to compete in the 35th annual Truck-Buck Shoot-Out. The second-best shot will win a Firminator G-3 food-plot implement by Ranew’s Outdoor Equipment, and the man, woman or youngster who makes that last shot will win a new truck from John Megel Chevrolet. When the last shot is fired in the Shoot-Out, we like to say it’s sort of a kick-off party for the next deer season. We believe you’ll enjoy being a part of this event. It has sure been special for us through the decades. Come see for yourself.
Yonah Invitational Turkey Calling Contest: For the fourth straight year, competition turkey callers will have the opportunity to earn a trip to Nashville to compete in the Super Bowl of contest calling at the NWTF Grand Nationals. The 4th annual Yonah Invitational turkey-calling competition, a Grand National qualifying event, will take place on Saturday, July 27.
In addition to all the activities and shows, the Ag-Pro Outdoor Blast will feature hundreds of hunting and fishing vendors, many offering special bargains.
