WMA Turkey Special
Deadline to sign up for general and youth WMA turkey quota hunts is Feb. 15.
Brad Gill | February 2, 2022
Your last chance to apply for WMA general and youth turkey hunts is Feb. 15. The charts on pages 48-49 and 51 show a list of some of the WMAs that offered turkey hunting during the spring of 2021, along with each WMA’s gobbler harvest and hunter numbers.
Five existing WMAs have added quota turkey hunts to their 2022 spring schedules: Bullard Creek, Crockford-Pigeon Mountain, McGraw Ford, Paulding Forest and Sheffield.
“On the Wildlife Management Areas where we added new quota hunts, we have seen increases in harvest pressure in recent years,” said Emily Ruston, WRD’s State Wild Turkey Coordinator. “We are limiting pressure by adding a quota to ensure sustainable harvest levels to provide quality hunting opportunities on these areas for years to come.”
