First Half Of The Field Competing In GON’s Kids Shoot-Out

With the shift in dates for the Outdoor Blast, the annual GON Youth Big-Buck Contest Shoot-Out will now take place on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Infinite Energy Center in Gwinnett County. Here’s the first half of the field of those who will be shooting for a chance to win a $3,000 shopping spree at Adventure Outdoors and a hunting weekend with Blaine Burley at Woods-N-Water.

Week 1: Archie Burgess, 15, of Fairburn, had been watching this Fulton County buck a month before taking it with a crossbow. It scored 126 26/8.

Week 2: This 121 2/8-inch Harris County buck, named “Angus,” was killed by Jack Lester, 9, of Brooks.

Week 3: Gage Lindsey, 13, of Sandersville, said he made a perfect heart shot on this Washington County 8-point that netted 100 2/8 inches.

Week 4: A morning bowhunt in a Whitfield County food plot paid off for Reece Cowart, 14, of Dalton. His buck scored 110 5/8 inches.

Week 5: It’s no secret that Anna Grace Strickland, 13, of Grovetown, looks and shoots better than her dad. The proof is in this Burke County buck that scored 138 even.

Week 6: Cade Croft, 14, of Pine Mountain, killed a real beaut in Harris County on Oct. 21. The buck, which was on the hit list, scored 147 3/8.

Week 7: Camden Moss is only 11, but he’s got a solid 130-class buck under his belt. He took it in Henry County on Nov. 1

Week 8: Haley Hines, of Macon, was 15 when she killed this Macon County buck that scored 127 5/8.

Week 9: Easton Withrow, 9, of Cleveland, was “hunting deep” in Habersham County when he killed this 119 5/8-inch buck. It had to be packed out.
