Lake Seminole is the place to go for a 12-foot gator. The above and below photos are only two of the big Seminole gators GON received. Above: (From left) Skylar, Gene and Spencer Smith took this 12 1/2-footer on Aug. 17. Below: Dr. Daniel White (left) and Josh Long, both from Bainbridge, killed this 12-foot, 3-inch gator on Aug. 24.

Mark Fletcher, of Palmetto, with the biggest gator GON has heard about so far this season. The giant lizard came from Lake Eufaula and measured 13-feet, 10-inches long and weighed between 800-900 pounds. The full story of Mark’s gator can be viewed at www.gon.com.

GON subscriber Ryan Wheeler (left), of Greenville, was drawn to hunt Zone 2 and opted for the Flint River near Newton. Ryan and his hunting partner Brent Croft, of Grantville, took this 12-foot, 1-inch gator with a snatch hook and a .357 mag pistol.

Daniel Carreker and his 13-year-old son Gabe, of Lizella, arrowed this 12 1/2-foot gator on the Flint River near Campers Haven on Aug. 16. They thank Phillip Nichols and his wife “Boots” for helping them once the gator was killed.

Above: Brothers Royce and Mark McAlister, of Buford, with the 12-foot, 6-inch gator they caught on Lake Seminole. Right: Royce was able to hook the gator on a 10/0 treble hook with an extra-heavy bass flipping rod loaded with 80-lb. braid. In a 2 1/2-hour battle and an impressive trolling motor chase to keep the gator out of the hydrilla, a 9mm finished him off.

DNR Commissioner Mark Williams (left) hunted with Gary Frye (right) of Happy Acre Expeditions when he got this 10-foot, 2-inch gator on the Champney River in McIntosh County. Also in the picture is Deputy Commissioner of DNR Walter Rabon. Mark said, “We saw probably 50 other alligators. This was my first alligator tag, and I had four rejection points.”

Jaden Grimes, 14, Jordan Grimes, 17, and Nash Sinclair, 14, all from Eatonton, killed this 10-foot, 3-inch gator in Zone 6 on the Satilla River.

Thirteen-year-old Kolby Faust killed this 10-foot gator on the Altamaha River in Brunswick.

On Sept. 12, Carson Jenkins, 12, of LaFayette, killed this 7-foot gator while hunting with his dad Casey on the Satilla River.

While hunting with the Coweta County Gator Getters, 12-year-old Andrew Brandon, of Sharpsburg, filled his first alligator tag on the night of Aug. 16. The Lake Seminole gator measured 9-feet, 3-inches long.

Jeremy Whittaker and Cody Roberts, both from Donalsonville, killed this 12-footer within the first hour of gator season. The big lizard was killed on Lake Seminole with the snatch-hook method.

Team LetsHunt 2015 Gator was able to finally dispatch this giant 11-foot, 10-inch gator from the Savannah River on Aug. 29. The team members were (from left) Chris Farris, Jeff and Cody Moomey and Michael Evans.

(From left) Wiley Caves, of Snipesville, Brandon Caves, of Gray, and Cliff Walker, of Snipesville, killed their alligator on the Altamaha River on Aug. 23. It measured 11-feet, 2-inches long and was caught using snatch hooks.

This may be the first giant gator we’ve seen stretched across the front deck of a nice bass boat, but it didn’t stop Derek Roberts, of Chickamauga, on Sept. 5. He said his Lake Eufaula gator measured 12-feet, 2-inches long and had a nubbed off tail.

John Kerr, of Dunwoody, killed this 8-footer on Aug. 23 in a private pond in Sumter County. It was John’s first tag and second hunt. He said it’s going to be a long five years waiting on his next chance.

Kyla Maxwell, of Monroe, took this 9-foot, 3-inch Savannah River gator on opening night.
