GON Seeking Trappers For Hire

Brad Gill | February 2, 2021

In an effort to help hunters with their predator problems, GON will release its first-ever “Trappers For Hire” list in the May issue to go along with its annual Coyote Cull contest. GON is specifically looking for trappers who would like to be hired by landowners and hunting clubs.

This idea is the brainchild of Lynn Stanford, a trapper from Putnam County who works with a number of landowners in his area who obviously value the removal of predators that eat deer, turkey and other game critters.

“I think this is a win-win for everybody,” said GON Publisher Daryl Kirby. “This helps the landowners and those with hunting clubs, and it also puts a few dollars in the pockets of those who work hard to trap. We’re thankful to Lynn for calling us about this. Many of the great ideas over the last 34 years have been from our readers.”

GON needs the below information for potential trappers to be included on the Trapper For Hire listing:

Name:

Phone Number:

County You Live In:

Counties You Will Trap: Some trappers are willing to travel outside of their home counties to trap. Let us know if you’re willing to do that and which counties you’re willing to travel and trap.

Months You Will Trap: With Georgia’s furbearer trapping season running from December-February, we know that some trappers may only be willing to trap during this time. However, we know there are others who trap year-round for things like beavers and coyotes that don’t have a season.

Commercial Trappers License Number: Whether you only trap in December-February, or trap coyotes year-round, you must have a current Commercial Trappers License and a number. We are NOT going to publish this number, but we do want to verify with WRD that your information is current. Please include your number.

Send info to [email protected] or call 800.438.4663. We’ll need your information by April 10 to be considered for the May issue. This listing will also be updated regularly at www.gon.com.
