Zone 1, Chattahoochee River: Will Baker (right) and the crew from Killer Instinct Guide Service with Will’s 13-foot, 1.5-inch gator that came from the Chattahoochee River above Lake Eufaula. Will’s hunt story is at GON.com.

Gator season won’t officially close until Oct. 2, but this season has already been highlighted by some really big Georgia alligators and happy hunters. As we always enjoy doing in October, we show off the ones who took the time to send in pictures and info. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get all of those photos on these two pages. It’s just been a great season!

If you’ve been a part of a successful alligator hunt, we’d like to see your photos. Drop us an email with some caption info to [email protected]. We’ll make sure to publish you in our online Trophy Room, and you may be published in a future GON magazine.

Zone 4: Andrew Sharp and his 9-year-old son Liam killed this 5-footer on private land in Berrien County on Aug. 19.

Zone 2, Lake Seminole: Three generations of hunters had a successful alligator hunt (from left) Dan, Chad and Huntley Cox. Huntley, 16, was the one who got the 7-foot alligator.

Zone 8: Hil Gracen harvested this 9-foot alligator in Cattle Pen Creek near St. Catherine’s Island on Labor Day weekend with the assistance of his two younger brothers, Slade and Griffin. The alligator was first hooked with an offshore rod by Griffin, then snagged with a 20/0 treble hook by Slade, who fought him to the boat where he was dispatched with a 10mm pistol and finished off with a homemade spear.

Zone 3 Lake Blackshear: Here’s some happy gator hunters with a 9-2 gator (from left): Brittany Glover, Jake Glover, Dylan Avant (tag holder) and Christa Malone. The gator only had three legs.

Zone 2, Lake Seminole: Meghan Bailey, of Carrollton, with a 13-3 gator. Her hunt story and video is at GON.com. Meghan was guided by Chris Blackmon with Get-R-Done Guide Service.

Zone 7: Steven Lujan harvested this gator in McIntosh County on Aug. 25.

Zone 2, Lake Seminole: Stephen Geer, of Brookhaven, with an 11-3 alligator from Sept. 9 with the assistance of Lethal Guide Service. Stephen reports, “We casted over his back with a big weighted treble hook and hooked him in the tail with a heavy-duty rod and reel. He pulled us around the lake for over an hour and half, and when he finally surfaced, I harpooned him and dispatched him with a .44 magnum bang stick.”

Zone 8: Nate Ward, of Midway, with a Bryan County gator that went 10-9 and weighed 360 pounds. He was hunting with David Summerlin on Sept. 10 and caught the gator using a snag hook on a hand line.
