GON Staff | March 28, 2019

It’s time to make plans to hit the Oconee River for some competitive catfishing fun. The 7th annual Oconee River Catfish Tournament, sponsored by the East Dublin Lions Club, is April 26-27, 2019.

Anglers can fish anywhere from Ball’s Ferry Landing downstream to the Altamaha River. Ball’s Ferry is located in Wilkinson County just east of Toomsboro at the State Route 57 bridge on the Oconee River.

Catfish can be caught using any legal means, including rod and reel, bush hook, trotline and noodling.

The weigh-in will be conducted at the East Dublin Boat Ramp.

There is an entry fee of $50 per angler, with a minimum entry of $100 per boat. An optional $10 big-fish pot with a full pay-out is available. Prize money is $1,500 for first place, $1,000 for second, $750 for third, $500 for fourth, and $250 for fifth place.

A special “Kid’s Mini Tour” is available at no charge for any kids under 16 fishing with a paid adult in the same boat.

Entry forms are available at East Dublin City Hall or online at CityofEastDublin.org. Completed entry forms must be mailed by April 15.
