Lake Jackson

Lake Jackson is one of the oldest reservoirs in the United States. Jackson has transitioned from a trophy largemouth bass lake to lots more spotted bass making up the bass catch. Crappie fishing is good on Jackson, and the lake is home to some huge catfish. The Lloyd Shoals Dam was built in 1910 by Central Georgia Power Company, and electricity was originally generated for the city of Macon. At 4,750 acres, Lake Jackson is small compared to other Georgia reservoirs.

Lake Jackson Fishing Report — April 9, 2024

April 9, 2024

Jackson: Level: 0.9 feet above 528. Temp: 62-66 degrees. Clarity: Heavy stain from mouth of Tussahaw Creek to the dam. Bass: Ronnie Garrison with the Flint River Bass Club reports, “I won with five weighing 9.74 pounds and had big fish with a 2.78-lb. largemouth. We started at 7 a.m., and by 8:30 I had three largemouth and a spot. I caught them all on a 3/8-oz. gold-bladed chartreuse/blue/white skirted spinnerbait. At 9, I caught a skinny, 13-inch spot on the spinnerbait and then culled it with a bigger spot that hit a shaky-head worm around 10. “I think males were fanning or guarding beds. Twice I felt a thump on the spinnerbait and missed but cast right back and caught…

Probe Points For Lake Jackson Postspawn Bass

May can be a magical month for Georgia bass fishermen. The weather has settled down into hot days, but the winds and storms of spring are mostly over. And the bass have settled down, too.
