Etowah River Record Catfish

Darren Sexton set marks for both blue and flathead catfish.

GON Staff | October 1, 2016

People often ask how lake and river records are kept and compiled, and the first answer is that we simply have to start somewhere. That’s the case for many of our newer river records, which are benchmarks of fish with certified weights that anglers can shoot for as the records become more robust and solid over the years.

This Etowah River blue catfish weighed 20-lbs., 2-ozs. to set a river record mark for Darren Sexton.

Darren Sexton established two catfish records for the Etowah while fishing the river on Sept. 2, 2016. He caught a 25-lb., 4-oz. flathead catfish and a 20-lb., 2-oz. blue catfish.
