Regan Green (left) was top dog in the 15-18 age group with 11.94 pounds. Daniel Weaver (right) won the 11-14 age group with 9.72 pounds. Both are members of the ProCasters Jr. Bass Club.

The Georgia Bass Chapter Federation (GBCF) youth division held their 2012 Top-6 championship tournament on Lake Blackshear on March 31. Held under the FLW program, the best young tournament anglers from bass clubs in Georgia fished for bragging rights and state-championship honors. Six youth clubs sent teams to the tournament, and their top anglers competed in two age groups (11-14 and 15-18) for individual and team honors.

They were paired with GBCF members who provided boats for the event. Considering it rained for the better part of the day and that Blackshear has a 14-inch minimum length limit for bass, most of the young men and women who competed caught fish, and a good time was had by all.

Regan Green weighed in 11.94 pounds, winning the 15-18 year group. Taking first in the 11-14 age group was Daniel Weaver, who weighed in 9.72 pounds. Both youth fish for the ProCasters Jr. Bass Club out of Macon. The ProCasters was the top team of the tournament with a combined weight of 31.94 pounds.

Regan and Daniel qualified to represent Georgia at the 2012 National Guard Junior World Championship tournament, which takes place Aug. 9-11 at Lake Lanier. The tournament will be held during the same week as the Forrest Wood Cup.
