West Point Crappie Fishing Report – March 18, 2024
Ronnie Garrison | March 19, 2024
Crappie: Guide Payton Caldwell reports, “The water is muddy, 59-62 degrees and 2 feet low. This combination has crappie all over the place. You can catch them in 25 feet all the way up to 3 and 4 feet. Live minnows work great as always, and a dark-blue tube jig or a blue-and-black curly tail with a bright green tail is a good choice for artificials.
The crappie are getting ready to spawn and should be on shallow rocks and brush with the highest concentration during the full moon in April. They will be on the rocks for about a week or so. They are also starting to stage up on brushpiles in the 10- to 14-foot range. I’m looking forward to putting my clients on coolers full of fish all summer long.
You can catch a good mess of crappie by following Payton’s tips, or even better set up a trip with him at 678.633.1668 or through his website. You can also message him on Facebook and see his catches at Crappie Killaz Guide Service.
