Doug Acree  (left) and Duane Case with the Flint River Bass Club fished Sinclair on Sunday, Aug. 11 on a tough late summer day. They caught a few on worms around docks.

Sinclair: Level: 1.7 feet below at 340. Temp: 87-89 degrees. Clarity: Slight stain.

Bass fishing remains tough for club fishermen. On Saturday, Aug. 10, the 4-Lakes club had 11 boats in a team tournament. Ty King won with 10 pounds, and he said that he caught his bass under docks. Chuck Croft had a limit early on topwater, and his 8 pounds placed fourth. Marlon Pollard proved you can catch a big one, winning big fish in the club with a 6.34-pounder.
The Flint River Bass Club fished Lake Sinclair on Sunday, Aug. 11. Nine members brought in 16 keepers at about 24 pounds. I won with four weighing 6.65 pounds. No real pattern, one bass hit at 7 a.m. on a shallow brushtop, inhaling a Trick Worm. I caught the next one at 9 a.m. on a shaky head from 15-foot-deep brush, and then one at 11 on a jig in hydrilla. And finally I caught a bass at 1 p.m. on a shaky head under a dock—one of the docks in Tony Couch’s Map-of-The-Month article in the August 2024 issue of GON.
Doug Acree had four bass at 5.99 pounds for second place and a 2.51-pounder for big fish. Duane Case fished with Doug and had three at 4.42 for third. They said they caught their fish around docks on worms.
There was a mayfly hatch Saturday, but it didn’t seem to help anyone. The hot water and sun with not much breeze makes it tough fishing for most of us.
