Lake Weiss Fishing Report – May 2020

GON Staff | April 30, 2020

Weiss: Level: 0.3 feet below full pool. Temp:  Mid 60s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Guide and tournament angler Mike Carter reports, “This has been an up and down spring for Weiss bass with several different weather changes that have created several days of flooded conditions. This has made staying on a consistent bass fishing pattern extremely tough. The fish had really made a move up shallow before the most recent flood, and the action had gotten very consistent with fish being caught on Choo Choo swim jigs, spinnerbaits and Shakers, along with different plastics, such as Senkos and creatures-type baits fished around shallow cover such as grassbeds, stumps and laydowns. If the weather and water gets back to normal, these patterns will pick back up where it left off.”
