Lake Weiss Fishing Report – October 2009

GON Staff | September 29, 2009

Weiss: Level: 1.1 feet below full pool. Temp: 78 degrees. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Fair. Guide Warren Barnes reports, “With all the recent heavy rains, bass fishing has been on one day and off the next. I have been using Revenge spinnerbaits around the main-river wood and docks. Later in the day try flipping using the GrandeBass 4.5 Rattlesnake or a Revenge jig in these same areas. I have also been catching both spots and largemouths on the 6.8 Jackall Flickshake worms with a Revenge Flippin Wacker head on the heavy wood cover midway back in the creeks. I am also throwing the Jackall MC60 crankbaits in these same areas. Look for the swimbait bite to pick up as well in the clearer areas of the lake. I have been using the Bullshad and the Revolution Shad. As we look further into November, look for the shallow crankbait bite to turn on all over the lake. Bass will start using the creek channels and long points to feed on shad as the lake level falls. I will be using crankbaits like the Jackall DD Cherry to catch them.”
