GON Staff | April 27, 2016

Weiss: Level: 5 inches below full pool. Temp: 64-65 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Mark Collins reports, “Bass fishing is great, and they are shallow and moving into the spawning coves. Some fish are starting to cruise the banks, and some fish are starting to spawn. Shallow-running crankbaits, spinnerbaits and jigs are doing well.”

Crappie: Mark reports, “Crappie fishing is good, and they are being caught longline trolling with Jiffy Jigs in colors JJ13, JJ17, JJ20, JJ24 in Bay Springs, Godfreys and Church House Cove. Yellow and Mud creeks are also producing some good fish. Crappie are also being caught around deeper docks tightlining jigs. Most fish have spawned, and they can be caught spider rigging with minnows on the creek channel ledges and deeper cover.”

Stripers: Poor and have moved up the Coosa River for their spawning run.

Catfish: Biting good in the flats using cut bait.
