Lake Weiss Fishing Report May 2014

Weiss: Level: 0.2 feet below full pool. Temp: 61-65 degrees. Clarity: Stained. Up to 2-foot visibility.

Bass: Guide Mark Collins reports, “They are being caught shallow in 2 to 5 feet of water on spinnerbaits, ChatterBaits and shallow-running crankbaits. Jig ’n pigs under docks are also producing some good bass. Tournament weights have been 24 to 28 pounds to win over the last month. A lot of big largemouth are being caught.”

Crappie:
Good. Mark Collins reports, “They have moved back to deeper water due to all the rain and muddy water. They are being caught long-line trolling with 1/24- and 1/16-oz. Jiffy Jigs in colors JJ01, JJ06, JJ13, JJ17, JJ20, JJ37 and Mark’s Special Blue. Shooting docks is starting to produce a lot of crappie also. Some fish are still being caught casting jigs and minnows to the banks.”
