Lake Weiss Fishing Report January 2016

Weiss: Level: 5.7 feet below full pool. Temp: 53-57 degrees. Clarity: Muddy.

Bass: Guide Mark Collins reports, “The fishing is fair. The bass are on their deep winter pattern on the old river channel ledges, main-lake points and submerged roadbeds. Jigs and Carolina-rigged plastics are catching bass. Some fish are holding on rip-rap rocks along deep water.”

Crappie: Good. Mark reports, “Crappie are being caught long-line trolling with Jiffy Jigs in the old creek and river channels. The fish are suspended in the creek channels 8 to 12 feet deep.”

Striper: “The fishing is fair. They are being caught trolling 1/4-oz. jigs with a 3- to 4-inch Sassy Shad body. Concentrate along the creek and river channels,” he said.
