Lake Weiss Fishing Report – February 2023

GON Staff | January 26, 2023

Weiss: Level: 3.3 feet below 564. Temp: 49 to 51 degrees. Clarity: Stained to clear.

Multiple Species: Guide Mark Collins reports, “Fishing is poor, and they are still on the creek and river channel ledges. Deep-running crankbaits and Carolina rigs are catching fish. A lot of bass are on secondary points and roadbeds. Crappie fishing is poor, but they are on the Coosa River channel 16 to 25 feet deep and might be caught spider rigging with minnows and Jiffy Jigs. Some crappie are still being caught shooting docks with jigs. A lot of fish have suspended in the river and creek channels 8 to 12 feet deep, and they can be caught longline trolling with Jiffy Jigs. Catfish are biting good in the bays and creeks in 8 to 15 feet of water. Cutbait is working best.”
