Lake Weiss Fishing Report December 2014

GON Staff | November 25, 2014

Weiss: Level: 3.9 feet below full pool. Temp: 55-57 degrees. Clarity: Stained.

Bass:
Guide Mark Collins reports, “Bass fishing is good. Most bass are shallow in the bays and coves following the shad. Rat-L-Traps, flat-sided crankbaits and spinnerbaits are producing good right now. Look for this cold front (Nov. 17) to shut the bass down for a few days.”

Crappie:
“The fishing is great,” Mark said. “They are on the old Coosa River channel ledges 14 to 18 feet deep. Spider-rigging with live minnows, near the bottom, is the way to catch these fall crappie. Some fish are being caught up the river near Riverside Campground on the main channel in 12 to 16 feet of water.”

Stripers:
Poor. “A few fish are starting to show up in the main lake over the last few days, and they should show up in numbers over the next few weeks.”
