Lake Weiss Fishing Report – April 2019

GON Staff | March 25, 2019

Weiss: Level: 1.5 feet low. Temp: Upper 50s to low 60s. Clarity: Light stained.

Bass: Guide and tournament pro Mike Carter reports, “Weiss had some major flooding conditions the past few weeks, and the damage it did to the lake and surrounding properties around the lake was unimaginable. I saw first-hand the damage this flood created, and one can’t fathom just how bad it got. The lake now seems to be getting back to normal, but property owners will be healing from this for a long time to come. The fishing should pick back up very soon with the bass getting ready for their spawning cycle. The feeding will become more consistent, and this will make several patterns more productive. Covering the shallow stump-filled flats with Choo Choo Shakers and spinnerbaits will become very consistent for some quality Weiss bass. Looking for dead grassbeds when the water gets stable will also produce some great action. The rain and the floods seem to have finally settled back down, and hopefully Weiss is getting back to normal, so get out and enjoy some great fishing action.”
