Lake Sinclair Fishing Report – October 2008

GON Staff | September 23, 2008

Sinclair: Level: 1.6 feet below full pool. Temp: 78-81 degrees. Clarity: Slightly stained.

Bass: Good, said tournament angler Mike Cleveland. “The water’s turning over, so you can expect there to be a shallow bite from now into December,” he said. “Right now, it’s following the shad. The shad are just now starting to go into the backs of the pockets, and they’ll (the bass) follow them.” Mike has had success fishing spinnerbaits and buzzbaits on flats in the pockets with some emerging grass. He likes a Mann’s Classic white-and-chartreuse spinnerbait with combo gold blades. He goes with a 3/8-oz. white buzzbait. The dock bite is also picking up. Try a 1/4-oz. black/blue jig with a black/blue Zoom Chunk fished around docks. A Texas-rigged Zoom Ol Monster in green pumpkin with a pegged 1/4-oz. weight will also work. The best docks are in the mouths of the pockets in 3 to 5 feet of water.
