Lake Sinclair Fishing Report – November 2009

Sinclair: Level: 0.4 feet below full. Temp: 64-67 degrees. Clarity: Heavy stain in Little River. Farther up the Oconee is a little cleaner.

Bass: Aaron Batson recently went on a windy day and caught a pile of smaller fish. He was throwing Rat-L-Traps in the backs of pockets. “I don’t know how you can get bit in all the shad. There are hundreds of them. You’d think nothing would bite,” said Aaron. Mike Mincey fished a recent Thursday C&R event. He placed third with about 5 3/4 pounds. There was no wind, and the bite just wasn’t on. “He had a few early on a Trap,” said Aaron. “He had to flip a Trick Worm.” Aaron said to look for fish to bite Traps in the backs of the pockets throughout the month of November. With the fish super shallow, throw a 1/4-oz. shad-colored bait. Work down the bank toward the backs. When you get in the backs, just fan cast all around and across the pockets. A Bandit 200 crankbait in chartreuse/blue or chartreuse/green will work. Aaron recommends a 1/4-oz. white or chartreuse/white Ol Nelle spinnerbait. Try double willowleaf blades. If the water is stained, white blades could be the ticket. “Jigs on docks is not happening,” said Aaron. “If you do get one, it’ll probably be a good one.” With all the shad, the bass really aren’t focusing on woody structure. This time of year Aaron fishes up the Little and Oconee rivers.
