Lake Sinclair Fishing Report May 2018

GON Staff | April 27, 2018

Sinclair: Level: 1.7 feet low. Temp: Upper 60s. Clarity: 1 foot of clarity in the Little River, and 3 to 5 feet of clarity on the main lake.

Bass: Tournament angler Mark Denney Jr. reports, “Fishing is good on Lake Sinclair as the warmer days have started to stabilize the water temperatures across the lake. Most fish are done spawning for the year, but there are always a few stragglers that will make their move to the bank late in the spring. Be on the lookout for a shad spawn and other baitfish activity this month as the bass will begin to target this forage during their recovery from the spawn. A spinnerbait around rip-rap, grass and seawalls is a good choice first thing in the morning when wind and overcast conditions has the baitfish active around the surface. Key on shad-imitating baits, like a square-billed crankbait and a ChatterBait, around docks, wood and rocks. This will allow you to cover a lot of water as you search for a solid pattern. Once you find a productive area, try dragging a Carolina-rigged lizard around points and flats as the fish will often use these areas as ambush to feed on an easy meal. As the fishing gets tougher throughout the day, try slowing down with a Texas-rig or shaky-head worm as these techniques are consistent producers in any conditions.”
