Lake Sinclair Fishing Report March 2014

GON Staff | March 5, 2014

Sinclair: Level: Full pool. Temp: 48 to 54 degrees and rising quickly with warm weather. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Tournament angler Aaron Batson reports, “March is a month of big changes. Look for fish to push very shallow and get more aggressive. Flipping soft plastics like a Wackem Crazy Baits Big Tater Bug on a Texas rig will work very well. Good colors are junebug and black/blue. Target any shallow cover where a fish is likely looking to spawn. Seawalls, dock post, grass or stumps will likely hold a fish or two. Dipping the plastics in clear JJ’s Magic will help the fish locate the bait in stained water. Good areas are up Little River and into the backs of major creeks. Also try Cedar Creek, Rooty Creek and Crooked Creek.” Tournament pro and writer Walker Smith reports, “Out of town at the Classic, but I’ll quickly tell you to fish points at Sinclair. Look for channel swings and tight contours near points, and you’ll be golden. Any upcoming cold fronts won’t matter once the bass start moving shallow. Once the bass are up in March, they ain’t going deep again!”
