Lake Sinclair Fishing Report – June 2024

GON Staff | May 29, 2024

Sinclair: Level: 1.5 feet below 340. Temp: Low 80s. Clarity: Stained water up the Little River, good color by the 441 bridge and clear near the dam.

Bass: Karl Pingry reports that Ed at Lakeside Chevron said a black buzzbait or a painted-blade spinnerbait are the early morning baits to throw. If you’re up the Oconee, a white popping frog or a ChatterBait fished in the hydrilla is another morning bait. There’s a crankbait bite using a crawfish-colored squarebill, a black Bandit 200 or a Shad Rap. A wacky worm or a Trick Worm in and around Island Creek is working, as well. The summertime reliable bite of flipping docks with black-emerald or junebug-red Ol’ Monster worms is putting bass in the boat. The mayflies have started hatching, and that should continue for most of June. Ed says the hatches seem to be on the main lake and up Little River. A black buzzbait or prop bait will work in the shaded areas. A swim jig, squarebill or shaky-head worm in bluegill colors will work if the sun is on the water. Ed says the areas that seem to be producing are the back of Rooty Creek and Little River in the stained water, Island Creek on the south end and up the Oconee and Shoulderbone areas. June patterns are going to be the summer standbys. Throw buzzbaits, prop baits, Pop-Rs and frogs (in the grass) early. Work crankbaits 3 to 7 feet deep, especially when the water is moving. That pattern will hold until at least late June. Flipping docks and laydowns as the sun gets on the water (dark colors in stained water and lighter hues in clear water) will catch fish. Watch out for the summer boat traffic! There’s plenty of parking at Lakeside Chevron, a cold beverage and an updated fishing report if you’re headed to the lake!”
