Lake Sinclair Fishing Report – June 2022

GON Staff | May 26, 2022

Sinclair: Level: 1.4 feet below 340. Temp: Mid 70s. Clarity: The lake is clear at the dam with a little color up the river, but the forecasted rain at press time will change that.

Bass: Tournament angler Karl Pingry reports, “Ed at Chevron says the shad spawn is almost over. The mayfly hatches are really getting strong, and the bluegill have spawned on the May full moon. Fish a merthiolate Trick Worm around the bluegill beds, as well as a Pop-R or bluegill-colored prop bait. Ed said the hydrilla is coming back strong and to fish a Chatterbait parallel to the grass edges. That pattern will work throughout the summer. Just make sure the grass is green and has not been sprayed by Georgia Power (that will probably occur sometime this summer). A spinnerbait will also work paralleling the grass and up the river in the slightly stained water. A black buzzbait and black popping frog are the topwater baits Ed recommends right now. Lastly, if you are flipping docks, Ed says a monster worm or an 8-inch lizard in black emerald or junebug red will work. I’d keep a shaky head on the deck in case the bass get skittish from fishing and boat traffic over the holiday weekend. Ed says the mayfly hatches will continue in June, and there will be another bream spawn in June around the next full moon. Keep the above methods in mind and add a bluegill-colored swim jig or shaky head to the mix around the bream beds with the water temp being warmer on the next full moon. When the water stains up with the next rains, look for the bass to be shallow and a squarebill, spinnerbait and dark-colored plastics to be your go-to baits.” Ed will have the latest info. if you want to stop in or need to add to your Zoom bait arsenal.
