Lake Sinclair Fishing Report – June 2009

GON Staff | May 27, 2009

Sinclair: Level: Full pool. Temp: 70-71 degrees. Clarity: Various stages of stain. The mid area has the heaviest stain.

Bass: Shad were still spawning last week, according to guide Barry Stokes. He caught quite a few bass on a Pop-R and Cold Steele’s new frog called, “The Last Hop.” Be on the lake at daylight, and look for shad skipping around rocks or in grass patches. “The mayflies are just starting to hatch — finally,” said Barry. “I’m starting to see a lot of bream along the banks.” He’ll pitch a Zoom Mag II or Ol Monster worm on a Net Boy Baits 3/16-oz. shaky head in areas where bream are either bedding or attacking mayflies. Will Sizer said his go-to bait this month is a buzzbait. In addition to mayfly hatches and bream beds, he targets shade, rocks, docks and blowdowns. He’ll also work an Ol Monster, spinnerbait and swim jig, as he stays shallow all month. For more on Will’s June bass plan, turn to page 22.
