Lake Sinclair Fishing Report – July 2022

GON Staff | June 30, 2022

Sinclair: Level: 1.6 feet below 340. Temp: High 80s to low 90s. Clarity: Clear from Nancy Creek south. Some stain up the rivers and in the backs of some pockets due to recent storms.

Bass: Tournament angler Karl Pingry reports, “Ed at Lakeside Chevron says the fishing is still strong with tournaments taking 21-22 pounds to win. He says the bass fishing has really improved with all the hydrilla in the lake. The mayflies and bream beds have kept the bass shallow. A black buzzbait, black popping frog, a swim jig and a squarebill are the baits of choice early in the morning. There has been some rain showers lately, and if you find stained water, Ed recommends throwing a Little Earl or Bandit 200 in chartreuse and pearl or a spinnerbait in white and chartreuse. Fishing the edge of the grasslines with a ChatterBait or swimbait is still a viable option and don’t forget the docks. Ole Monster worms or Magnum Shaky Head worms in redbug and junebug red are good choices, as well as a Z-Craw in South Africa color. July should continue to see these patterns continue. In addition, don’t forget targeting main-lake points and rip-rap on the bridges with C-rigs and crankbaits when GP is moving water. Although the weight to win a tournament might drop a little, Sinclair bass fishing will continue to be strong, but you may have to change patterns throughout the day. See Ed for the latest fishing report and the Zoom baits you need on the lake.”
