Lake Sinclair Fishing Report – April 2022
Brad Gill | March 23, 2022
Sinclair: Level: 0.8 feet below 340. Temp: 62-67 degrees. Clarity: Heavily stained water up the rivers and in the backs of some pockets. The water is stained until you get past Nancy Creek.
Bass: Tournament angler Karl Pingry reports, “According to Ed at Lakeside, the bite is on right now. The newest bait working is a plastic swimbait by Big Bite Baits. It has a blue back and pearl belly, and the guys are fishing it parallel to the grasslines. The other baits to throw are a 200 Bandit or Little Earl in chartreuse and white, a chartreuse-and-white spinnerbait, a ChatterBait or a JackHammer. On the docks, throw a monster worm or big lizard or shaky head in black emerald or junebug red. A wacky-rigged Senko or merthiolate Trick Worm around the spawning areas will be in play all the way through April. Topwater is only going to get better! Have a Senko or Trick Worm ready in case you get a missed blowup on your topwater. You may have found a bass guarding a nest. The first wave of the spawn has finished, but look for more bass to bed as the water warms. Remember the next wave will spawn a little deeper. A C-rig on the secondary points will also find bass in all staging phases from postspawn to prespawn. Look for rock, sand or clay bottoms. Hard bottoms will be key this month. All of the above-mentioned baits will continue to produce in April. Look for the shad spawn to start in the second to third week of the month. It’s hard to beat a spinnerbait, shallow crankbait or fluke on the rip-rap and seawalls in the first hour of daylight. Stop by and see Ed for current conditions and the newest Zoom plastics.”
