Lake Oconee Fishing Report December 2016

GON Staff | November 22, 2016

Oconee: Level: 3 feet below full pool. Temp: 62-66 degrees. Clarity: Light stain.

Bass: Good. Tournament angler Aaron Batson reports, “Be very careful riding around the lake with low water levels. Fish are on a strong fall pattern following baitfish to the coves and pockets, especially from the mid-lake area to the dam. Look for bait in the center of coves in 6 to 10 feet of water. Good baits are a Norman DLN and a Bandit 300. Also, look for fish to be on rock and wood cover in these areas. Flip visible cover with a 3/8-oz. Greenfish Tackle Skipping Jig in Cal 420 and gourd-green colors. Later this month, fish will move deeper and more near the mouth. Up size to a 3/4-oz. Greenfish Tackle football jig, and drag it slowly with colder temps.”

Linesides: Guide Doug Nelms reports, “We are catching 30 to 50 stripers on our four-hour trips right now. We are experiencing fast, double, triple hook-ups.”
