Lake Nottely Fishing Reports – July 2021

GON Staff | July 1, 2021

Nottely: Level: 1.3 feet above full. Temp: 77-81 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Linesides: Guide Jeremy Seabolt reports, “Fishing has been off the hook. We have been on some big schools of fish. Most of the fish have been in the mouths of creeks and coves with water running in. Fish have been holding tight to the bottom in 40 feet of water. Downlines have been performing the best first thing early in the mornings, and then we are dropping them 20 to 40 feet deep. They have been finicky. We have had to drop down to 8- to 10-lb. test to catch numbers. Some big hybrids have shown back up mixed in with the stripers, so you may need to back off on the drag some. Going into July, start looking for the fish to move out over the river channel and going deeper. Downlines will be the ticket to catching fish, but don’t forget the hotter water is more stress on the fish, so get them in and turn them back as fast as you can. July is one of my favorite times to fish the u-rigs. It can be a blast catching fish on them. Don’t forget to stop by The Bait Shack On Nottely to get all your live bait for catching stripers and hybrids.”
