Lake Nottely Fishing Reports – February 2021

GON Staff | January 29, 2021

Nottely: Level: 14 feet low. Temp: 46-48 degrees. Clarity: The lake is clear, and the creeks are slightly stand.

Stripers: Guide Jeremy Seabolt reports, “We been catching some good fish. Most of our fish have been coming on herring and trout fished on downlines and planer boards. We have been starting out in 20 feet of water or less first thing in the morning pulling trout and shad on boards and working out to deeper water as the sun comes up. Then we have been dropping downlines. The fish are all over the lake. In the afternoons, we have been catching them on topwater throwing Red Fins, flukes and pitching herring to them. Going into February, I am hoping the birds will show up. We will be looking for fish on points and rocky, clay banks where the sun shines first thing in the morning. February is also a good month to be throwing 1/2-oz. bucktails and Red Fins and working them slow. You can find bucktails and Red Fins at Jack’s Creek Bait & Tackle. February can also be good fishing at night hitting the dock lights with a Red Fin or pitching herring into the lights. If the water keeps cooling down, we can have a bait die-off. Then it is time to start dropping or throwing a Flex-It spoon. Be extremely cautious out here on the lake and wear your life jackets. The Bait Shack has all your live-bait needs.”
