Lake Nottely Fishing Report – August 2010

GON Staff | July 28, 2010

Nottely: Level: 0.8 feet below full pool. Temp: 84-85 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Stripers: Good. “They’re finally schooled up good and tight,” said Jeremy Seabolt. He said you’ve got two options on Nottely right now. You can either fish between points 4 and 6 to catch a mixed bag of smaller stripers and hybrids, or you can fish from the dam up to point 4 to catch some the lake’s better fish. The bite for fish in the 2- to 8-lb range is fast and consistent, producing 15 to 20 fish in a couple of hours during the early morning bite. The bite for larger fish is more scattered, producing five or six fish in a morning that run between 10 and 15 pounds. Either way, downlined bluebacks are the ticket. Jeremy said the fish are packed in tight, and they’ll be anywhere from 30 to 60 feet deep over a 100- to 130-foot bottom. As the morning progresses, there’s also a pretty good bite on umbrella rigs. Jeremy is pulling white bucktails with chartreuse trailers 120 to 140 feet behind the boat. Just pull the river channels, he said.
