Lake Jackson Fishing Report – June 2024

GON Staff | May 29, 2024

Jackson: Level: 0.5 feet above 528. Temp: Upper 70s. Clarity: Light stain in the river, mostly clear in other areas.

Bass: Tournament angler Willie McMullen reports that although it is hit or miss, watch for a mayfly hatch. Bream feeding on the bugs will bring in the bass, and they will hit poppers, like a Pop-R, Rico or Chug Bug. If you don’t see mayflies, run-and-gun seawalls early with a buzzbait looking for active bass. After the sun gets up, you can still catch some largemouth with a buzzbait or Pop-R in the shade. Try flipping an Ol’ Monster in blowdowns and under docks after the sun gets up. Also, try a shaky head in deeper brush. Fish a green-pumpkin Trick Worm in clear water or junebug in stained water. The water will get some color from boat wakes on the weekends, and that will help if you fight the waves. Some rain putting a little stain in the water will help a lot.
