Lake Hartwell Fishing Report – October 2023

GON Staff | September 27, 2023

Hartwell: Level: 4.2 feet below 660. Temp: 75-78 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: This is the month when baitfish return to the backs of the creeks looking for good water. The bass will be right there with them. Squarebill crankbaits around bait or on rocks and in brush will produce fish this month as it keeps cooling off. Staying with the bait will be key in getting bit or not. There will still be some schooling fish out deep over timber around points and humps. Throw flukes and any sort of topwater that throws water. When fish are not schooling, fan casting swimbaits around the brush can work.
