Lake Hartwell Fishing Report – August 2018

GON Staff | August 1, 2018

Hartwell: Level: Full pool. Temp: Upper 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “Well the dog days of summer are here, and the fishing is pretty tough. We have been catching most of our fish deep in 20 to 30 feet of water with a drop shot or shaky head on main-lake points and humps. Most of the bass we are catching are spots, but there will be an occasional largemouth mixed in. There has been very little schooling activity, and the topwater bite is sporadic at best. As we head into August, the topwater activity should start to improve, especially if we get some cooler weather. This time of year the best time to hit the water is the first three hours of daylight or late in the evenings.”
