Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – October 2021

GON Staff | October 1, 2021

Eufaula: Level: 0.6 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: Low 80s. Clarity: Moderate stain to clear down the lake.

Bass: Rain and cooler temperatures have lowered the water temps and put some stained water in the lake. Some of the lily pads are beginning to die back, but the baitfish are still holding in the shallow cover. The topwater bite is good early. Some nice bass are being caught behind this cover next to the bank on buzzbaits. The deeper bass are on the ledge cover and man-made fish attractors. These are easy to locate with your electronics. The deep bass still like a slower-moving bait. Carolina rigs will work in these areas, as will jigs with a big trailer. Either go to the ledges and fish crankbaits, worms, spoons and jigs, or hit the lily pads in shallow water all day long with a frog.

Crappie: The crappie are holding on deeper cover and trashpiles. The trashpiles in Barbour Creek are holding some good schools of crappie, and jigs are working well.
