Lake Eufaula Fishing Report March 2015

GON Staff | February 25, 2015

Eufaula: Level: 1.5 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: 50 degrees. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Tournament pro Les Bratcher reports, “The spring push is getting ready to start here in Eufaula, and all indications are that it is going to be great. There are a few fish already being caught shallow, and some deep, as well. The water will begin to warm over the next few weeks, and the spawning push will begin. Anglers will be able to catch bass however they like, and with the type bait they like to use. Just keep posted to GON for all the awesome spring action here at Eufaula. The first major tournament will start the last week of February, and we will keep you posted with all the news.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “Bass fishing is picking up with the tournaments returning to Lake Eufaula. The deeper fish are still hitting slow-moving baits. Jigs are still a good choice. As the sun gets up and the water temperature warms above 52 degrees, square-billed crankbaits and lipless crankbaits near grass and wood will draw strikes.”

Crappie: Sam reports, “Crappie have not moved up much for the most part. With the creeks so muddy, the best spots are near the river ledges on trashpiles. Vertical jigging above the schools is working. Some of the braver fishermen who are toughing the cold nights around the bridges and causeways are getting a few fish under the lights.”
