Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – June 2024

GON Staff | May 29, 2024

Eufaula: Level: 0.9 above 188. Temp: 80-83 degrees. Clarity: Stained with all the rain.

Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, of Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “The continued rains have the river muddier than usual for this time of year. The water level is up, and that is great for the shallow bite. Bass are doing good on shallow, topwater baits. Frogs are really fun and exciting when a bass blows up on it. It is a really disciplined hook-set though. You must wait for the pull before you set the hook, or you will miss the fish most times. Buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and flukes are also great choices. Texas-rigged worms and jigs tipped with creature baits are a good bet when the topwater and active bite slows. The fish have not left, so keep working on them. The deeper bass are also hitting jigs with bigger trailers. Deep cranks are working, also. Soft plastics in blue/blue/black and greens are good. Reds where the water is dirtier is also working. Shallow squarebill crankbaits in shad colors worked around the rocks, rip-rap and causeways are getting bit.”

Multiple Species: Capt. Sam Williams, of Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “Crappie are still holding on natural and man-made structure in 10 to 20 feet. Minnows are the best bait. Shellcracker and bluegill are eating wigglers and crickets. They are mighty fine eating this time of year. Catfish are acting as usual eating cutbait on jugs in the creeks and crawlers on the bottom on creek ledges. School is out and it is a perfect time to spend time on the water with your kids or grandkids and make those memories that will be talked about for generations. Take advantage of what God has provided for us to enjoy. Pray for all our heroes in uniform and their families as they protect us every day. Pray for and love one another just as Jesus loves you.”
