Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – February 2024

GON Staff | January 31, 2024

Eufaula: Level: 0.9 above 188. Temp: 57 degrees. Clarity: Muddy.

Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, of Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “The winter rains, storms and high winds have made the river extremely muddy. The fish are scattered. The bass that are being caught are coming on noisy baits, like bladed jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and crankbaits with big shot inside. Soft plastic worms with rattles inserted are causing some noise, as well. Red colors are the best choice in the dirty water. The March Lee King Memorial Bass Tournament has been canceled due to the inability to take applications via the website. Please keep up with us on the Facebook site, and we will do our best to hold the planned September tournament.”

Multiple Species: Capt. Sam Williams, of Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “There are reports of stripers being caught in the river. Hybrids are hitting silver spoons near the bridges, causeway and railroad trestle. Crappie are being taken on jigs worked around the docks down river on jigs worked vertically near the pilings. Catfish are eating crawlers on the creek ledges while bottom fishing. In these high winds, jugs are hard to keep up with. Be safe on the water in this unpredictable weather. Pray for all our heroes in uniform and their families as they suit up every day to keep us safe. Pray for one another, as well, God tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves.”
